Wandle Ale was the first beer that we brewed and I will never forget the taste of the
first brew, produced on 26th November 2008. A beautiful golden sunshine colour with
a clean, fresh sweetness cut through by a delicate lingering bitterness. The very
thought of it makes me thirsty.
The origin of the name ‘Wandle’ is from our local river – a tributary to the Thames just minutes walk from
the brewery.
The river Wandle has helped to shape part of London’s industrial heritage, much like
London’s brewing industry. So when we found out that trout had returned to the river
after years of misuse at the same time as we had started brewing in Battersea, we took
this to be a good omen and named our first beer Wandle. |
