Hop Girl Summer: Celebrating Women in Brewing at Sambrook’s

This July, Sambrook’s Brewery is turning up the volume on craft beer and community with our month-long celebration: Hop Girl Summer. Dedicated to championing Women in Brewing, this exciting event showcases trailblazing female led breweries, guest beers, and a charity collaboration that gives back to our local community.

Pouring Power: Women at the Forefront of the Craft Beer Scene

At Hop Girl Summer, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible women making waves in the brewing industry. Our taps this month feature exceptional guest beers from Burnt Mill Brewery and Blondies Brewery, two standout names where women are leading the charge with innovation, skill, and passion.

Burnt Mill Brewery – Brewed by a Pioneer

We’reproud to feature beers from Burnt Mill Brewery, helmed by the legendary Sophie de Ronde. Sophie has been Head Brewer at the Suffolk-based brewery since 2017, known for their hop-forward, modern beers. Her journey began at Brentwood Brewing Company, where she honed her craft for seven years.

Beyond her brewing accolades—including being named "Brewer of the Year" in 2019 by the British Guild of Beer Writers—Sophie is also the founder of International Women's Collaboration Brew Day and co-founder of Beer Day Britain. Remarkably, Sophie is allergic to wheat and barley, making her contributions to brewing even more impressive. Her resilience and creativity inspire the entire industry.

Blondies – From Bar to Brewery, Run by Sisters

Joining us as well are the fierce and fabulous Blondies, a brewery born from the vision of three Australian sisters who transformed a neighborhood bar into one of London’s most inclusive and vibrant venues. Known for their killer playlists, strong drinks, and unwavering community spirit, Blondies recently launched their own brewery—proving that with grit and heart, anything is possible.

A Beer That Gives Back: Introducing Golden Locks

No Hop Girl Summer would be complete without a special release from our own team. Sambrook’s very own Mary and Christina have brewed a limited micro-batch Elderflower Pale Ale called Golden Locks. It’s a light, floral beer perfect for summer sipping—and it’s here for a cause.

💛 100% of the sales from Golden Locks will be donated to charity. This year, we’re supporting two local organisations:

  • Age UK Wandsworth: A vital charity supporting older people in the borough to live happy, healthy, and independent lives. Their services range from home help and companionship to digital inclusion and dementia support.

  • Floral Angels: This inspiring charity repurposes leftover flowers from weddings and events into beautiful bouquets for care homes, hospices, and shelters—bringing joy and connection to those in need.

Every pint of Golden Locks helps support people in our local area—so drink up for a good cause.
